Why don’t WCM Actions show up in the Workflow stage view

Answer

I am working on a vmware image and it took a couple of minutes for the workflow actions I had created to be available within the Workflow stages view – phew!

Sometime the best course of action is not to panic and go and get a cup of tea.

Question

What is the story about integrating content from IBM DB2 Content Manager to IBM Web Content Manager.

Answer

You need a custom built application to expose the IBM DB2 CM content as an RSS feed. Then using Web Content Integrator we can pump the data into Web Content Manager.

Expect to hear some annoucements around WebSphere Portal and Web Content Integrator in future dot releases of WebSphere Portal.

Note that this technique also works to access data in Vignette, Interwoven, Stellent from within WCM.

Web Content Management in pictures

I wanted to look at the types of websites and portals that used IBM Web Content Managemet and/or WebSphere Portal. It is a surpisingly easy thing to do.

Go to google and in the search field type all=wps/wcm.
When you implement IBM Web Content Manager, by default the wps/wcm will be in the url. (“friendly” urls are possible)

I created a short slideshow of some of the diverse users of IBM Web Content Management – all in the name of fun.
