Future Desktop – Cloudera and Hadoop?
Collaboration minded people are often wondering about what the future desktop will be (well Cloudera’s view of the future desktop). Hadoop is software to build large scale clusters of processors for parallel processing. Check out some education on Hadoop here.
Hadoop is really for processing analysis across are large data sets – similar to business intelligence tools today.
I predict that all the data we will interact with will be held within a large scale cluster such as Hadoop. We will just need a web client to interact with the data soi that we can perform our jobs.
I believe that Hadoop is the future of the desktop not in terms of how it looks but in how it allows us to access and interact with vast amounts of data.
